Please be advised that pursuant to law, the U.S. Copyright Office recently published in the Federal Register the new compulsory mechanical royalty rate for physical phonorecords under Section 115 of the U.S. Copyright Act effective January 1, 2006. As of the effective date, the royalty rate will increase from 8.5 cents/1.65 cents per minute to 9.1 cents/1.75 cents per minute, respectively. This increase results from the adoption by the Librarian of Congress of the proposed "physical phonorecord" royalty rate schedule jointly submitted to the Copyright Office two years ago by the National Music Publisher's Association, Inc., The Songwriters' Guild of America, Inc., and the Recording Industry Association of America, Inc.
